We’re Looking for a Different Kind of Clinician
At Pure Joy Pediatrics, we ask “why” before we ask “what now.” We’re a general pediatric practice with an integrative approach — meaning we treat the whole child, look for root causes, and take the time to actually listen to families. It’s the practice Dr. Kirin Palmer built from the ground up in 2022 because she believed the physician-patient relationship deserved better than rushed encounters and cookie-cutter protocols.
We’re growing — and we’re looking for a PA who brings that same spirit to every patient encounter. Someone who’s curious, collaborative, and genuinely invested in helping families thrive.
The Role
This is a part-time, hybrid position working 2–3 days per week. You’ll split your time between our Portland clinic and remote work — including televisits for lab reviews, parent consultations, and the occasional after-hours call from home. You’ll be embedded in a small, tight-knit practice where you’re a real contributor and your ideas are valued.
Required credentials:
• Current PALS certification
• Active DEA and NPI
• Pediatric PA experience (general peds preferred)
A Schedule That Actually Works for Your Life
We designed this practice around the belief that burned-out clinicians don’t take good care of patients. So, we built a schedule that protects your time outside of work — without sacrificing the quality of care inside of it.
• Start late enough to walk your kids to the bus or take the dog out. Get home in time for dinner or an after-school pickup.
• No weekend clinics. No evening hours. No hospital call.
• No charting at home — we’ve built workflows that let you close your charts before you walk out the door.
• Remote flexibility for lab reviews, parent follow-ups, and televisits.
• Occasional at-home call when needed — manageable, predictable, and compensated.
What Doing Great Work Looks Like Here
We’re not looking for someone to check boxes. We’re looking for a clinician who takes ownership — of their patient panel, their care quality, and their role in building something meaningful.
Clinical Excellence
• Seeing an average of 14 patients per day with intention
• Maintaining turnaround times of one hour or less at least 80% of the time
• Building a patient panel that reflects the care and trust you put into your work
• Conducting televisits for lab reviews and follow-up consultations
Practice Growth & Brand Building
This is a growing practice — and everyone on our team plays a role in that growth. That means being a recognizable, trusted presence in the community and online.
• Actively recruiting new patients through relationship-building and community presence
• Participating in practice marketing efforts — including social media, videos, and community events
• Supporting the Pure Joy Pediatrics brand by showing up as a knowledgeable, approachable clinician both in person and online
• Optimizing billing codes to support practice sustainability
• Promoting your own role and expertise within the practice
How We Set You Up to Succeed
We’ve invested a lot of thought into making this practice work well — for patients and for clinicians. Here’s what we’ll actively help you with:
• A proven workflow for seeing 14 patients a day and finishing charts before you leave
• Training on televisit best practices for lab reviews and parent consultations
• Mentorship and guidance on brand building through social media, videos, and community networking
• Real strategies for work-life balance as a clinician — not just platitudes
• A supportive, experienced team that shares ideas and actually communicates
Who Thrives Here
This role is a great fit if you:
• Have a strong work ethic and take real pride in the quality of your care
• Communicate clearly — with patients, families, and your team
• Love being part of an effective, collaborative practice
• Are genuinely curious and open to learning — including ideas outside conventional training
• Enjoy diving deep into patient issues and thinking about wellness, not just symptoms
• Are comfortable being a visible, public-facing part of a growing brand
• Understand that “we” builds something better than “me”
This is probably not the right fit if you:
• Prefer a set-it-and-forget-it routine over continuous growth
• Are not open to building relationships beyond the exam room
• Are unwilling to contribute to a patient panel or the health of the practice
• Would rather work in isolation than as a true team contributor
About Pure Joy Pediatrics
Pure Joy Pediatrics is a general pediatric practice in Portland, OR, founded in 2022 by Dr. Kirin Palmer. Dr. Palmer built this practice on a single conviction: the relationship between a physician and a family is worth protecting.
After two decades in pediatrics — hospital medicine, house calls, urgent care, and emergency medicine — Dr. Palmer saw what happens when that relationship gets crowded out by volume, pressure, and systems that weren’t built with families in mind. So, she built something different.
Today, Pure Joy Pediatrics is a place where parents feel heard, children feel safe, and clinicians feel like their work actually matters. The families who come to us aren’t just looking for a diagnosis — they’re looking for a partner in raising healthy, thriving kids. That’s what we do every day.
The reviews and referrals that have driven our growth speak to something real: families notice when someone actually cares. And our team does.
Meet Dr. Kirin Palmer
Dr. Palmer is a board-certified pediatrician with over 20 years of experience. She’s worked in pediatric hospital medicine, run house calls in Miami, staffed urgent care and emergency rooms — and she’s spent the last decade building something more intentional in Portland.
Three years ago, she began deepening her practice with functional and integrative medicine — because she kept asking questions that conventional training wasn’t designed to answer. Now, her approach combines the rigor of board-certified pediatrics with a gut-focused, root-cause lens that families drive hours to access.
She’s a mentor, a team builder, and a clinician who still reads the baby the book during the exam. You’ll learn from her — and she’ll learn from you.

About Us
Why Pure Joy Pediatrics?
After 16 years of clinical practice, I realize how important it is to preserve the physician/patient relationship. I believe in building practice and system that would bolster rather than detract from this special experience. Supporting parents in their journey of parenthood is at the heart of what we love to do at Pure Joy Pediatrics. This process has been exhilarating and life affirming. The kudos and reviews from families has really propelled the project forward by leaps and bounds.
Patient care is a must but it is only a part of what we do. Encouraging and supporting parents as they develop their own parenting style and garner confidence is at the heart of what Pure Joy Pediatrics offers parents. When parents feel empowered in their roles as advocates, caretakers and nurturers of their children, the children naturally benefit. Better yet, they thrive. That ultimately is our goal.
Pure Joy Pediatrics was conceptualized as a place where parents and patients are at ease throughout their experience. Making appointments easily through online scheduling, communication with the provider, accessing care, medical records and navigating the patient experience should be void of the normal hassles and stress that seem commonplace these days. The name itself was chosen as a vision for what the patient encounter should be for patients, families and the provider. One of our goals at Pure Joy is to restore joy in every patient encounter for everyone involved.
Pure Joy Pediatrics is a family-forward company. This means family come first. Some families are small and some are large but our mission is to promote the wellness of the entire family by supporting this in our community of patients. Of course, the mission of Pure Joy is to promote health and wellness of children and their families and we want the same for our providers and staff. The notion is to promote happy and healthy lives for everyone involved in the patient experience. We all have one opportunity at this lifetime, so let’s make the most of it.
